Beaches
The house is convenient to many public beaches of different types. There is something for everyone, whether you seek freshwater ponds, warm tidepools, or big waves.
Barnstable beaches
Barnstable has 6 beaches open to non-residents. Some nearby favorites are:
• Craigsville Beach, about 15 minutes away on the south side of the Cape. The beach is long and popular. Since it is on the Nantucket Sound side of the Cape, the water is warmer than on the Northside beaches.
• Sandy Neck Beach, on the north side, about 5 minutes drive up Route 6A from the house.
• Hathaway's Pond, a freshwater pond about a 10 minute drive away.

Other beaches
Dennis Beach is a long, gently sloping beach perfect for wading, basking, and sandcastles. Tidepools appear and disappear as the tide goes in and out. It is on the north side, about a 20 minute drive up Route 6A in the Town of Dennis.
The Cape Cod National Seashore includes Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach on the Atlantic side of the Cape, both of which have good waves. Both are about a 40 minute drive down Route 6. For a map of the entire park, click here.
